What is compulsory basic training (CBT)
CBT is a basic training course which on completion allows you to ride unaccompanied on the road
What does the CBT involve?
Understanding the aims of CBT
importance of the correct clothing
becoming familiar with the bike controls
be able to get the bike on and off the stand safely
practial rideing, moveing off, stopping, gear changes, slow control ect
road ride ( min 2 hours )
Recieve your CBT certificate
if you need a little more training, this is provided for free
125cc Test and Training
After completing your CBT you can continue training on a 125cc motorcycle improving your confidence and skill to pass your test
The training courses at Apex Motorcycle Training are constructed around you and your ability.
You can train in full days, half days, or even 2 hour slots.
Once you have passed your test on a 125cc motorcycle you are then restricted to a motorcycle of a power output of 33bhp for 2 years. Your local bike shop can restrict almost any bike down to 33bhp if you so wish.
Direct Access Scheme (DAS)
If you are 21 or over you can take your training and test on a larger motorcyle (500cc)
Once you have passed your test you can then ride anything you like without any restrictions
The advantages of Direct Access Training (DAS)
You learn on a larger more powerfull machine, similar to the ones that most people buy after passing thier test.
DAS training allows a much wider choice of motorcycles after you have passed your test, such as Tourers, Cruisers and Race Rep's
Remember there is no substitute for experiance, so if you are not sure which course is right for you, why not try the FREE ASSESSMENT to make sure you get the course which is right for you
Special Offer for people living in Derbyshire ( or on the borders including Stockport and Tameside )
CBT Plus is a three-hour course that shows new riders how to survive the challenges they will face while out on the road.
You´ll learn how to spot hazards and handle your bike with greater confidence while cornering and travelling across junctions.
The normal cost of the training is £75 but riders living in Derbyshire can enrol for just £15 thanks to a discount* offered by Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership.
CBT Plus is designed to be completed at around the same time as the Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) that all bikers must pass before they are allowed to ride on public roads.
Bike Plus is a one day course that allows qualified riders to further develop their skills.
The normal cost of the training is £180, but bikers living in Derbyshire can enrol for as little as £50 thanks to a discount* scheme managed by the county council. If you live outside the county you could still be eligible for a £90 discount meaning you could pay just £90.
